Casey has helped hundreds of clients transition onto low carb/keto/carnivore

From Nutrition Coach to Carnivore: Casey’s Journey

Prior to becoming carnivore, Casey was a nutrition coach and personal trainer for 13 years. The advice was what was typically given, with lots of vegetables and carbohydrates.

Low-carb Diet through Endurance Sports

He found the low-carb way through endurance sports: “I found a higher fat, lower carb diet through endurance sports. At the time, I was racing road bikes, and there was a coach that did a call with us and talked about how he would have world-class Ironman triathletes, and they would eat 50 or 60 calories an hour on the bike, not eating any carbohydrates.

They would eat cream and butter and things. This was 2012, and I was thinking ‘what are you talking about? That sounds insane!’. But, I had to nap every day, my recovery wasn’t that great.

I slowly started transitioning over to a ketogenic diet, and noticed my fatigue improved greatly, I didn’t need to take a nap every day, my energy was much better-all those things people talk about. Over the years, I turned more and more to an animal-based diet.”

Discovering the Carnivore Diet

His first exposure to the carnivore diet was the famous video of Dr. Shawn Baker being interviewed on the Joe Rogan show. He said he didn’t even finish the episode, before thinking it wasn’t possible to do this diet. He did start to transition fully in 2019, after reading much more about the carnivore diet.

One Meal a Day and Eating for Energy

Currently, Casey eats one meal a day (OMAD), with coffee in the morning with some salt and butter. If he has lunch, it’s usually eggs in the afternoon. His biggest meal is in the evening, and it’s generally red meat. He eats to full satiety, once a day, usually. That includes workouts he does and training with his athletic clients as well.

The Primary Motivator: Being Fully Present in Life

Casey says his primary motivation is: “To be present in my day and present with my clients. To understand them and help them as much as possible. I need to start my days at 6AM, and I can’t just drag myself into the gym into and office and coast into my day. I need to be up, and counting to 12, relating to my clients, and remembering what we did last week, our program design, what their kids are up to…that’s been the primary motivator for me: to be able to show up in my life and be fully present.

And so, when I say that my energy is better, I mean that my energy to understand and relate with people, and comprehend, and not need to stop because I’m hungry or hangry, to have great mental clarity, to put in a 10 or 12 hour day, where I’m seeing people every single hour, and I just don’t have a lot of time for food. If I can eat this certain way, and it’s improving my mental clarity and all these other things, it’s so great! It’s a wonderful way to live and be able to help other people. That’s been the biggest thing that is an improvement!”
